Nokia, once the King of mobile phones, have experienced somewhat of a slowdown in recent years. On 11 February 2011, Nokia unveiled a new strategic alliance with Microsoft, which meant it would replace Symbian with Windows Phone 7. Nokia will, however, retain Symbian for use in mid-to-low-end devices but it is described as a 'franchise platform'. If you're not looking for a smartphone Nokia still make great phones that do the basics like calling and texting well and the battery life is as good as ever on these simpler and cheaper devices. In terms of camera phones Nokia often use Carl Zeiss lenses which really lend some quality to their cameras and this means you don't need as many megapixels to still get great shots.
